Advanced Concept Energy Solutions™ (ACES) is a commercial building energy conservation project management firm. The firm recommends and manages installation and implementation of energy-efficient heating and cooling systems. In 2020, ACES launched the Induction Air Valve System with the only valve that can be installed inside existing perimeter air induction units where it converts constant air to VAV.

Products include:

  • Custom building pressurization instruments and systems to reduce stack effect losses
  • High accuracy temperature and other instruments that ensure efficacy, Continuous Commissioning Programs and local law compliance.

The firm was founded in 2013 by principals John Griffin and Jon Darcy. Together they bring more than a century of energy saving HVAC systems engineering and building management experience to all projects.

Products are manufactured and assembled in the U.S. ACES is a veteran-owned company.

John Griffin

Director

John Griffin is a well-known real estate professional in New York City. During his 50-plus-year career in building management, he’s been responsible for building operations, leasing and reporting to real estate owners. He knows the needs of property owners, operators, tenants and leasing professionals and, as a systems engineer, can deliver solutions and products that meet these needs.

Mr. Griffin began his career in real estate as a vice president with Cushman & Wakefield. He managed 25 million square feet of properties in New York and throughout the northeast implementing new technologies in energy conservation.

In 1980 he became president of Thermocycle International, an energy conservation company with offices throughout the US, Canada, and the UK. After a successful career at Thermocycle, he returned to real estate management with The Edward S. Gordon Company, where he was responsible for 50 buildings totaling 25 million sq. ft. of properties. He later joined Bankers Trust Company as managing director of global real estate. Mr. Griffin then became the executive-in-charge of design and construction for CIBC’S one million sq. ft. office building at 300 Madison Ave., where he incorporated the latest designs in energy conservation.

Mr. Griffin served as president of BOMA NY and chairman of the Codes and Regulations Committee for The Real Estate Board of NY. He received the coveted Person of the Year Awards from both BOMA and The Real Estate Board of NY.

Jon Darcy

Director

Jon Darcy is a chiller plant expert and instrumentation engineer who holds numerous patents on chilled water systems and equipment. His most recent patents are for the Induction Air Valve control valve and IAV Digital Control System that work together to convert constant air induction/chill beam systems to VAV.

Prior to establishing ACES, Mr. Darcy designed energy savings HVAC programs and managed internal staff for The Dome-Tech Group. His earlier career included six years as director of facilities at the New York Medical College, principal of Thermo Engineering Inc. and national director of engineering for Prudential building Maintenance Corp.

Mr. Darcy holds a B.S. degree Nuclear Science and Marine Engineering from the State University of New York Maritime College. He’s continued his education, taking numerous courses in Control Systems, Microprocessor design, Programming and Application as a non-matriculating student at Drexel University.
